Product Designer
New York
Full-time
In-Office
Ornn is an early-stage company building software, data, and operational infrastructure for large-scale industries. We work on complex business problems where reliability, trust, and execution matter. We are a lean team in New York backed by leading venture and strategic investors.
About the Role
You would be an early design hire, shaping how complex workflows become clear, intuitive, and trustworthy product experiences. You will work closely with founders and engineering to define product direction, interaction patterns, and the systems that support them.
What You'll Do
Translate complex business and operational workflows into clear, simple, and trustworthy product experiences.
Work closely with founders and engineering to define requirements, interaction models, and information architecture for new capabilities.
Create wireframes, high-fidelity mocks, prototypes, and design specs that can be implemented efficiently by a lean engineering team.
Build and maintain the design system and core interface patterns that will underpin the product suite over time.
Partner with commercial, operations, and research teams to understand user needs across multiple stakeholder groups.
Improve how the product communicates system state, workflow status, decision context, and outcomes.
Help define the product itself, not just the UI, by contributing to workflow design, prioritization, and product strategy.
Ensure the product meets a high bar for clarity, speed, and trust where users are making consequential decisions.
What We're Looking For
Requirements
2+ years of product design experience in software, fintech, infrastructure, enterprise, or similarly complex environments.
Strong portfolio showing thoughtful systems thinking, interaction design, and end-to-end product execution.
Ability to simplify technical or operational complexity into intuitive workflows and interfaces.
Comfort working closely with engineers and founders in a fast-moving environment.
Clear written and verbal communication.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience designing products for sophisticated or high-stakes users.
Background in enterprise software, financial products, marketplaces, infrastructure, or operations tooling.
Experience building or maintaining design systems at an early-stage company.
Comfort working across ambiguous product surfaces with limited prior precedent.
Why This Role Matters
This role will shape how users understand and trust the product. The workflows you design will influence whether complex processes feel intuitive, reliable, and worth adopting.
At an early-stage company, product design is not a finishing layer. It is a core part of how the company translates complexity into something customers can actually use.
Compensation and Benefits
Benefits include competitive salary, meaningful equity, health coverage, free meals, and additional benefits. This is a high-impact role with significant strategic scope and equity upside.
Equal Opportunity Statement
Ornn is committed to building a diverse team. We evaluate candidates based on their ability to do the work, not on pedigree or background. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.
